The late Marilyn Monroe, who died at just 36 years of age, is still making an impact on the world, 42 years after her death; Farrar, Straus and Giroux announced today, April 27, 2010, that a new book called Fragments would be released in October 2010 and it contains photographs, poems, and reflections by Marilyn Monroe on life, literature and the men in Marilyn’s life.
Marilyn Monroe was often portrayed as a blonde with little intelligience but the new Marilyn Monroe writings are said to contain writings of a woman who was thoughtful, educated and someone who “was a great reader and possessed real writing flair.” Fragments is also said to contain information on all of her relationships with men, an often controversial subject matter mentioned in the same sentence as Marilyn Monroe’s name. There is no confirmation, however, as to whether the book mentions the late President John F. Kennedy, with whom Marilyn Monroe reputedly had an affair.
Fragments covers the period of Marilyn Monroe’s life from 1943 to the end of her tragically short life…
“She was beautiful and untouched, it was as though she were just beginning.”
Bert Stern, photographer on Marilyn Monroe (1926 – 1962)
