According to an Associated Press report, a French tourist fell seventy five feet at the south rim of the Grand Canyon on Thursday August 5, 2010 – and survived.  The unnamed tourist apparently suffered neck, wrist and ankle injuries in the fall and was airlifted out of the canyon and transported by ambulance to Flagstaff Medical Center.  The eighteen-year-old male fell over the edge at Mather Point.

Thousands of visitors flock to the south rim of the Grand Canyon each summer and many get dangerously close to the edge in an effort to see to the canyon floor, one mile below; some are not as lucky as this French tourist apparently was and have died.

Although visitors are repeatedly warned not to get too close to the edge of the Grand Canyon rim, visitors seem to leave common sense at home when on vacation…..
