Starbucks has come up with a new way of selling “coffee that isn’t coffee” in an attempt to improve sales and compete with rivals, such as McDonalds, who have already been experimenting with “coffee” sales. At the moment, the “coffee that doesn’t taste like coffee” is only available at 113 company-operated cafes in the San Diego area, according to Reuters; testing began last week.
The new summer fruit drinks at Starbucks include a powdered extract made from unroasted green coffee. Apparently, the fruit drinks do not have as much as a caffeine zing as regular coffee but coffee addicts who like their caffeine fix may want to give them a try
Starbucks have named the drinks Refreshers and are available from $2.50 up to $2.95 each.
