Reflexology is generally practiced on the feet and hands. However, today there a number of different types of reflexology practices emerging including facial reflexology, maternity reflexology, baby reflexology and vertical reflexology. You may or may not have heard of some or all of these types of reflexology practices.
Maternity and baby reflexology go hand in hand and help to promote the health of both mother and child both before and after birth. Although the way in which reflexology actually works is still open to discussion, and much research, there is no doubt that reflexology can have a number of benefits for mom and baby.
Facial reflexology is exactly what it sounds like – reflexology practice carried out on points on the face. It has a number of additional benefits to regular foot reflexology.
Vertical reflexology is carried out on either the hands or the feet. On the feet, vertical reflexology is practiced in a standing position and hand reflexology is carried out with the hands laid flat on a surface. It is thought to be more effective than regular reflexology practice.
