As a celebrity, I guess its sometimes easy to forget that all eyes of the world are on you at all times, if you are used to that way of life; case in point, singer and actress Madonna made an off-the-cuff remark about a fan’s gift to her at the start of the Venice Film Festival press conference that was caught on an open mic. The YouTube video immediately went viral.
In case you didn’t know, Madonna doesn’t like hydrangeas. A gift from one fan who thought Madonna might appreciate the flower, but didn’t know her aversion to hydrangeas, apparently does now! Madonna graciously accepted the gift, with a smile and a polite “thank you”, but her comment that followed (after she thought no one was listening) was embarrassingly caught on an open mic. She said:
“I absolutely loathe hydrangeas.”
However, she did follow it up with:
“He obviously doesn’t know that.”
So, in future, do your homework before making a gift to a celebrity – otherwise it maybe followed by a “Madonna-like” comment!
